an historically Black, regional, comprehensive, liberal arts university, is one of the 17 constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina. Located in the Piedmont Triad, the university enrolls over 5,600 students, employs more than 350 full time faculty members, offers more than 40 baccalaureate and 10 graduate degree programs. WSSU seeks an energetic and dynamic individual to serve as a Visiting Faculty member (1-year, fixed-term, full-time appointment) in the undergraduate Therapeutic Recreation program in the Department of Human Performance and Sports Sciences.
Primary duties include teaching undergraduate courses, participation in or support of development of opportunities for students to gain practical experience, research exposure, and service learning, pursuit of scholarship interests, participation in departmental and university service such as outcomes assessment, and professional service
Master’s degree in recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field
Ph.D. or a doctoral candidate in recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish departmental and university goals
Evidence of ability to engage in scholarship
Reputation as recognized scholar and/or teacher in field
Experience with learning or program outcomes assessment
Record of service to higher education and profession
Salary: The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
