I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

CARTE Seeking Board Nominations

The Committee on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education (CARTE) is soliciting candidates for the following positions to serve as a board member: 1 - Educator Position (3 year term) 1 - Practitioner Position (3 year term) 1 - Student Member (1 year term) 1 - Public Member (1 year term) On April 19, 2010, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accepted ATRA as a sponsoring member and accepted CARTE as the accreditation mechanism (CAAHEP Council on Accreditation or CoA) for recreational therapy. The CARTE Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education, the CARTE Policies and Procedures, the CARTE By-Laws and other supporting material can be found at www.caahep.org/carte. The application deadline is set for April 1, 2014.
