I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Faculty Position with RT Assistant Program

Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton, North Carolina, is accepting applications for Coordinator/Instructor for the Recreational Therapy Assistant program. The two-year program has approximately 25 students and was established in 1989. Graduates earn their “Licensed Recreational Therapy Assistant” (LRTA) credential from the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure. The successful applicant must be a licensed RT in NC before beginning work, and must be able to manage and facilitate a high ropes course. The College is located in Morganton, North Carolina, 45 minutes from Asheville and 90 minutes from Charlotte, NC. The western part of NC offers wonderful outdoor opportunities.
