Recreational Therapy Program
Western Carolina University
A nine-month, non-tenure-track assistant professor position in Recreational Therapy beginning in August 2016. Candidates interested in an academic career with a focus on teaching, service, and scholarly pursuit are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include contributions to the advancement and promotion of Recreational Therapy degree program; teach undergraduate recreational therapy students; advise students, and assist in maintaining ties with therapeutic and rehabilitation agencies; and provide service to the university, community, and profession.
Earned master’s degree required
with a graduate degree concentration in recreational therapy or therapeutic recreation from an accredited institution preferred. All degrees must be from an accredited institution. Professional practitioner experience and NCTRC certification required. Must have a current unencumbered North Carolina recreational therapy license or be eligible for a North Carolina recreational therapy license.
A doctorate degree is preferred.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in one or more of the following: foundations, program administration, physical disabilities, psychiatry, or geriatrics.
