I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Job Description:
Northeast Passage is a freestanding Therapeutic Recreation
program. It is a fast passed environment with a varied schedule that can include evenings and weekends. The team at Northeast Passage works closely together to provide progressive community based Therapeutic Recreation services, with each team member carrying significant responsibilities.
Therapist will provide therapeutic recreation services to clients in their homes, communities and school systems. Therapist will conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for clients with disabilities. Therapist will have significant autonomy and will often work alone with clients in the field, providing hands on interventions related to adapted recreation and life skills. Therapist will be responsible for billing, progress notes and other communication with contracting agencies. Therapist will also be responsible for planning and conducting adaptive sports and recreation programs for groups of people with disabilities.  
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field

  • Minimum of two years experience in the field, four years preferred

  • Current NCTRC certification and eligible for Recreation Therapy Licensure in NH

  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to adapt to a wide range of people and settings

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Working knowledge of a wide range of adaptive sports and adaptive equipment

  • Excellent problem solving skills  

  • Self motivated, team player

  • Well organized
