I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Director of Activities/Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteers

The Washington Nursing Facility, a 360 bed skilled nursing home located just over the Sousa Bridge from Capital Hill in Washington, D.C. has an immediate opening for a Director of Activities/Therapeutic Recreation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, 3-5 years of experience as an Activities Professional or Recreation Therapist and be currently registered in D.C. The Department Director is responsible for overseeing a staff of 10 and producing an Activities Program which addresses the interests of our diverse population of residents. It is a unique and challenging position which allows the Director the opportunity to try new programs and ideas.
