I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Conference at Sea a Success

From Allyson Dedic, CTRS,Director of Therapeutic Recreation,Whitehall Boca Raton:

The 1st Annual TR “Conference at Sea” was a HUGE success! There were 28 attendees from all over the country who earned up to 12 hours of CEU’s during the trip. We visited Freeport Grand Bahamas and Nassau Bahamas (unfortunately the seas were too rough to visit the private island so sessions were moved to that day!). Each night the attendees gathered at the “Crossings” dining room for a wonderful 4 course meal and the presenters had a special night at “Cagney’s Steakhouse”. Over the course of the week, attendees participated in activities such as karaoke, dancing, casinos, live entertainment, cabaret shows, and hanging out on the outside ship deck. New friendships were made and the networking opportunities were priceless!

We are beginning to plan for the March/April 2012 “Conference at Sea” now!!! Although the cost may seem expensive, but if you break it down it works out to be less than $100 a day per person which includes all of your meals!!!

If you are interested in attending or presenting, please contact Allyson Dedic adedic@whitehallboca.com
