I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems believes that therapeutic recreation has a unique role in the psychological and behavioral improvement of the adolescents we treat. Our therapeutic recreation staff use individual and group therapy, play, recreation and other activity based interventions to maximize our patient’s functioning and promote quality of life. If you have a strong interest in providing quality therapeutic recreation to adolescent boys who have experience severe personal trauma, this is the job for you. You will be given the autonomy to develop and create a wide range of modalities and facilitation techniques. You will also be working with an awesome team of multi disciplinary professionals that you can rely on to assist you in coordinating a solid foundation of quality care and mental health treatment. This position will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of all therapeutic outings and activities in addition to directly supervising all staff in this department. This person will be developing programs to ensure our patients are working on pro social skills in the community, experience different levels of service learning in addition to mentoring, coaching and modeling appropriate vocational skills.
