I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

RT Position at Miami Valley Hospital

Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio INPATIENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH: RECREATION THERAPIST STATUS: FULL TIME; HOURS: 7AM TO 5PM, HOURS PER PAY: 72 POSITION SUMMARY: The incumbent provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, depending on service area. The therapist must meet productivity standards and satisfactorily completes and maintain all required documentation. The therapist maintains a “Patient First” orientation and meets MVH customer service standards. The incumbent serves as a flexible member of both disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, including assisting others as needed and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department. DIMENSION/SCOPE: The incumbent provides treatment to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The assistant meets productivity standards and satisfactorily completes and maintains all required documentation. The assistant maintains a Patient First orientation and meets MVH customer service standards. The incumbent is a flexible member of both disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, including assisting others as needed and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department. JOB QUALIFICATIONS : Education: Bachelors degree in recreation therapy required. Certification: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
