M.S. Level Position at Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State University’s Therapeutic Recreation program is looking for a Master’s level CTRS to join our team. Located in beautiful West Michigan (close to Tulip Time in the spring, Lake Michigan beaches in the summer, beautiful fall colors, and skiing in the winter), this is a full-year position with primary responsibilities of teaching 3-4 TR specific courses/year and placement coordination for students’ junior level fieldwork and senior-level internship. Our program is designed to accept 40 students/year through a secondary admission process, so students apply for the program during their sophomore year and then complete the program over their junior and senior year (including the two placements, fieldwork after their junior year and internship after their senior year). This position requires certification as a CTRS, experience in the field as a practitioner, and a Master’s degree level of education. Those with teaching experience would be preferred.
What we have to offer? Exceptional students, strong university support for Therapeutic Recreation, 4 TR faculty members, an interprofessional environment in the College of Health Professions, a strong curriculum (TR is the oldest health profession program at GVSU), a new building with designated TR space (2018), a state of the art simulation lab with standard patients, strong community support, outstanding alumni and a strong presence of TR professionals in the city and state… I could go on and on.
