Faculty Position at Pittsburg State University
The Health, Human Performance and Recreation Department of Pittsburg State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and also have the ability and desire to develop a strong Therapeutic Recreation program that actively involves undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include courses required for the B.S. in Recreation, emphasis courses in Therapeutic Recreation, with the possibility of others within the HHPR Department. In addition, there will be shared supervision of student internships. Additional expectations include advising students, active involvement in professional organizations, service to the college and community, and commitment to student success. PSU's Therapeutic Recreation program is the only college program within the state of Kansas.
Minimum Requirements: It is preferred applicants have completed a Ph.D./Ed.D. in Recreation or closely related field. ABD Candidates or candidates with a Master’s degree pursuing a Ph,D,/Ed.D. in Recreation or closely related field will be considered. ABD Candidates or candidates with a Master’s degree pursuing a Ph.D./Ed.D in Recreation or closely related field will be considered. Candidate must currently hold the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification, experience in a university setting and/or work experience in the TR field.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D./Ed.D. in Recreation or closely related field, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, teaching experience in a university setting, and work experience in the TR field.
