I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Vacancy description: DSH-V is a 439-bed inpatient psychiatric facility within a state prison serving incarcerated males. We are seeking qualified individuals interested in FT positions as Rehabilitation Therapists (Recreation). The Rehab Therapist works within the IDTT by providing evaluation and treatment services to mentally ill patients who are referred by the CDCR. The Rehab Therapist works within a forensic setting providing therapeutic treatment groups, is an active participant in the IDTT, conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, evaluates and documents patients’ progress and participates in professional service meetings. Minimum qualifications for employment include: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree with major work in recreation therapy and completion of an approved clinical internship at a site affiliated with the college; applicants who have not completed a clinical internship because it was not a component of the academic program at the time, are required to have completed a minimum of two years full-time paid experience in a clinical, residential, or community-based setting after receipt of the required degree Applicants must meet eligibility requirements to apply.
