I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

New Hope RT Position Opening

Recreational Therapist for New Hope of Indiana Responsibilities include: the provision of recreation services for people with disabilities or illnesses. They may use a variety of techniques, including arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, games, and field trips. The recreational therapist is responsible for providing holistic, purposeful interventions specifically designed to meet the capabilities, needs, and interests of the individual being served through the Therapeutic Recreation program. The recreational therapist performs all functions consistently with the Core Values. The recreational therapist must be willing to use personal vehicle, work independently, as well as possess good communication skills. Basic Qualification: Bachelor Degree Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Preferred Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
