I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

ATRA Practice Posters Deadline Approaching

From Sandra Klitzing: The deadline for the ATRA Practice Poster Session submission is fast approaching. Professionals, educators, and students are encouraged to submit abstracts. The Practice Poster Session will be a part of the 2014 ATRA Annual Conference that will be held in Oklahoma City, OK from September 13-16. The primary purpose of practice poster presentations is to showcase intervention programs that produce client outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to share recent successes and challenges with fellow professionals. The posters do not need to be research-based, but do need to describe the assessment, program, and outcomes. Proposals are due by April 28, 2014. See attached for more details. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact Sandra Klitzing, slklitz@ilstu.edu. -- Sandra Wolf Klitzing, Ph.D., CTRS Therapeutic Recreation Sequence Coordinator Illinois State University slklitz@ilstu.edu
