I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

Recreation Therapy

The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration, CSUS, is seeking applications for a probationary tenure track appointment to begin Fall 2013. Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Doctorate in Recreation and Leisure Studies or related field. Must be current CTRS. ABD considered but degree must be completed by August 1, 2015. (Applicants that have previously received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor at a CSU may be considered for the rank of Associate Professor based on the strength of their application materials.)

Teaching experience at the college or university level and participation in scholarly, professional and community activities preferred. Practical experience in recreation therapy preferred. Knowledge of recreation therapy required. Must be able to teach undergraduate courses in recreation therapy, teach general education courses in recreation, teach core courses in recreation, and supervise internships. Other assignments include teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization, academic advising, coordinate recreation therapy program, scholarly activities, service to the Department, College, University and Community.
