I became a Professor Emeritus after serving 29 years as a recreational therapy faculty member at Indiana University. I'm a long-time Hoosier, having grown up in Hanover, Indiana. My RT practitioner work was in psych/mental health. After completing my Ph.D. at the University of Illinois, my first faculty position was at the University of North Texas. RT has been a wonderful profession for me as I have had the opportunity to serve as an author and national leader.

The Refuge, A Healing Place of Ocklawaha is seeking a PRN Recreational Therapist to improve and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of clients being treated for substance abuse, trauma and dual-diagnoses in an adult residential treatment environment.


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy or similar human services major; 1-2 years of experience as a Recreation Therapist or Art Therapist, preferably with a focus in mental health; Nationally registered or certified (i.e. CTRS)

Position Overview:
Plan, direct, and coordinate recreation programs for clients in our residential treatment facility. Use leisure activities—especially structured group programs—to improve and maintain clients’ general health and well-being.
